Success Story: Organic Climbing
Assisted by the Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership (MVEDP), Organic Climbing, LLC secured a PIDA loan and purchased a site within the Moshannon Valley Regional Business Park in 2018 and built a new 17,000 square foot manufacturing company. As this site is also a KOZ (Keystone Opportunity Zone), the KOZ coordinator from SEDA-COG is currently assisting them with their application and approval for benefits for 2018.
Organic Climbing, LLC was started by Josh Heike in Wyoming in 2004. His goal in starting his company was to create a business that manufacturers high quality bouldering crash pads, backpacks, clothing and tote bags for rock-climbing enthusiasts, as he was dissatisfied with the gear made overseas. Hand made in the U.S.A., each piece is one of-a-kind. They are an alternative to the industry mainstream. Influenced by the climbing underground, they work to promote individuality and the art of bouldering. Organic Climbing products bridge the simplicity of bouldering and timelessness of art. They believe in promoting individuality and are inspired by the underground art scene. Their goal is to produce the highest quality, functional and aesthetic products without any unneeded bells and whistles.
“Mr Heike’s project to build his own facility is important, as it solidifies the company’s presence here in Central Pennsylvania, “stated Stan LaFuria, Executive Director of MVEDP.
